New School in Nohona Madagascar

New School in Nohona Madagascar

We are delighted to report that together with TASC and in co-operation with Foyer Tanjomoha and Pere Emeric a new primary school has been built in Nohona to replace the old school which was totally dilapidated and unsafe for use.

With no transport to and from the village, building a school was a daunting prospect. The first step towards constructing the new school, was the erection of 3 new bridges in 2019 as to facilitate the transport of building materials to the site.

Getting materials to and from Nohona even with the new bridges was a challenge. However, with guidance from Pere Emeric and the amazing work of volunteer engineer Gwen the school has been finished to a high standard as can be seen from below.

Security issues, transport issues and Covid 19 made the delivery of the project more difficult.

The dedication of the workers and village community was inspirational.

TASC have committed to supporting the 6 teachers salaries for the next 5 years while waiting for government funding for teachers and with Adsum have given 40 bicycles to the teachers and some of the village elders.

Sincere thanks to everyone involved in the delivery of this project and to all those who made donations. Thanks to your support the pupils of Nohona primary school no longer have to study in dark, cramped, wet and unsafe classrooms. Providing the community with a new school and improved educational opportunities for present and future generations of children.
