Location
Amboara is a rural village in the Itasy Region of Madagascar. It is in a remote area, reached by a dirt track.
Beneficiaries
The new school benefits 109 children aged between 3 and 16. It also gives children living nearby better access to education.
Objectives
The project aimed to give children a safe and welcoming place to learn. It also provided more space and better classrooms for pupils and teachers.
Project Background
The original school had only two classrooms and became badly damaged over time. The walls were cracked, and the roof leaked.
There was not enough space, so children had to attend lessons at different times. During heavy rain, some children also faced difficult journeys home.
The End Result
The new school has three classrooms, a head teacher’s office, furniture and improved toilets. Pupils now have more space to learn together throughout the school day.
The larger school also welcomes more children and gives teachers better facilities for their lessons.
