About Us

A look at why we started and how we support communities in Madagascar

Our Purpose

The Adsum Foundation’s purpose is to support communities in Madagascar who are living in some of the most challenging environments in the world.

We believe it is unjust that for many people in Madagascar, their human needs and rights are not being met.

Who We Are

We are a small-scale foundation based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Since establishing in 2008, we have supported projects working in various developing countries in partnership with a range of large and small-scale Non Governement Organisations. We have supported projects that have built wells in Tanzania, provided disaster relief in Pakistan and distributed mosquito nets in Uganda.

We now focus our support efforts in Madagascar.

Why Madagascar

On the Human Development Index, which indicates life expectancy, education rates and standard of living, Madagascar ranks 173 out of 191 countries.

Extreme weather and climate events are increasing the humanitarian needs of communities already suffering from extreme poverty, with Madagascar suffering the first ‘climate induced famine’.

Communities in need in Madagascar have received little focus and support from international media and non-governmental organisation’s when compared to other locations.

Most of Madagascar’s plants and animals have evolved in isolation over millions of years into species that are not found anywhere else in the world.

Meet Our Partners

To deliver projects we work with a range of organisations who have valuable knowledge of things such as local language, cultural differences, and weather patterns.

They see and experience the need of communities first hand, and can return to projects in the long-term to assess sustainability.

The organisations we currently work with are:
