Students at Ulidia Integrated College raised funds towards a new borehole well in Madagascar.

Year 10 students at Ulidia Integrated College in Carrickfergus embraced the challenge set for them by their teachers to raise funds to help change lives in Madagascar

Under the guidance of teachers Mrs Patterson and Miss Guéret, the pupils were set the task of raising £15 each towards their overall total of £1500 to help build a borehole well in a community in Madagascar. The students set about this with gusto by raising funds through a variety of schemes such as bake sales, clothes recycling and good old fashioned sponsorship from their friends and family. Students even gave their own money to the cause, reaching their target in style. At an assembly to present the cheque, School Principal Mr Houston told the pupils they should be proud of their efforts, which have helped change the lives of the community of Ambalamanenjana forever by providing clean and safe water for the men, women and children there for the first time.
