World Book Day 2018
On Thursday 1st March readers and writers in over 100 countries will celebrate World Book Day. That makes it the perfect day to reach out to children in Madagascar for whom books are a rare luxury.
Education is the bedrock of social development. For this reason, in Madagascar we focus our efforts not just on building schools but also on developing the quality of education.
The standard of education that children receive is affected to a large degree by the supporting environment and access to essential learning materials – such as books. The Adsum Foundation develops the learning environment through the installation of school libraries, provision of story book packs and by equipping schools with solar panels to power lamps for after-school reading.
Thanks to the generosity of kind hearted book lovers in the UK and Ireland, we gifted thousands of books to primary schools in rural Madagascar last year.
You can help us give more children happy reading experiences by donating online or organising a fundraiser. Every pound donated is matched and goes directly to the project.
