WILLIS IRM go to record breaking lengths for Adsum

John Bedford sets his sights firmly on Scotland and a Guinness world record

John Bedford of Willis IRM aims to be the first person to windsurf from Northern Ireland to Scotland to raise money for much needed wells in Madagascar.

The feat will take place one weekend in October/November when the conditions are at their best - the waters are warm and the wind is blowing in the right direction ! Launching from Donaghadee Sailing Club, Northern Ireland, father of three John will set off for Portpatrick, Scotland with the aim of completing the challenge in one hour...

At speeds of up to 35mph, John will be travelling at a similar pace to the now defunct Seacat ferry that serviced the Northern Ireland to Scotland route and hopes to be the first person to windsurf the North Channel for the Guinness Book of Records adjudicators.

Belfast based insurance company Willis IRM have already donated funds for a school and water project at Andavabato, and their latest fundraising venture aims to raise enough money to build 10 wells, bringing clean and safe water to an area of Madagascar where as few as 8% of people in the community currently have access.
